Become a Mentor

If you have something valuable to share with our mentees, we’d love for you to join us!

Why You?

Reflect on the mentor who guided you through challenges—or the one you wish you had. You have the power to inspire and uplift a young person, helping them imagine a positive future. While mentoring can feel like a big responsibility, together we can support a young person on their journey to find hope.

Take the first step by reaching out! Share your interest, and we’ll walk through each step with you from there.

Here are some great reasons why YOU will make a great mentor:

  • Your life experiences make it easy to connect with the youth we support.
  • Having been mentored yourself, you’re ready to pass on the same blessing.
  • As an empty nester, you find yourself missing the busy days of parenting.
  • Living far from loved ones, you’d like to create more shared connections.
  • You want to offer support and encouragement to a person facing challenges.
  • Having overcome hardships, you’re eager to share your journey with others.

What experience is required to become a mentor?

No formal experience is required. We assess each candidate’s strengths and areas for growth, considering your interests and suitability to ensure the best match with mentees.

We invite you to embark on a journey with us, ideally committing to at least a year. You’ll start with regular weekly meetings, building a rhythm over time. As connection and trust deepen, the focus shifts to creating meaningful experiences together—moving from a quick coffee catch-up to something more immersive, like a long hike.

We focus on immigrant youth ages 15 to 24, while staying inclusive and adaptable to a broader age range.

In our selection process, we take into account a range of diverse factors, including educational, professional, and cultural backgrounds, to ensure a well-rounded match. We’ll also arrange interviews to gain a deeper understanding of each candidate’s motivations and values. To prioritize safety, all applicants undergo background and fingerprint screenings. Please note that we cannot accept individuals with any record of violent crimes, sexual offenses, or crimes involving a child.

A dedicated Mentoring Specialist will be assigned to you, providing support throughout your mentoring journey. They offer valuable resources and guidance to enhance and strengthen your experience together.

Our matching team carefully considers factors like location, interests, life experiences, personality, and more to pair you with a well-suited mentee nearby. When a suitable mentee is identified, you’ll have the opportunity to learn about them and decide if the match feels right for you.
